GRE POWERPREP are the preparation tools offered by ETS, which are designed by test makers themselves for computer-based GRE general test. These tools are designed to help candidates get familiar with the actual test format, question type, scoring pattern, etc
There are mainly three Powerprep tools offered by ETS:
POWERPREP Test Preview Tool – It is a free tool that offers candidates the information related to the type of questions asked in the general test, what kind of features are used in the test and various tools available during the actual test. This will help candidates to understand the testing environment and prepare accordingly.
It includes 7 verbal reasoning and 11 quantitative reasoning questions (including answers) and two analytical writing tasks.
POWERPREP Online – ETS offers two GRE simulated practice tests for free, with similar features that the candidates will have to use on the test day, such as going back and forth between questions, on-screen calculator and changing answer within a section. It also has attributes like time extension, extra breaks, colour selection, screen magnification, screen reader, etc.
The tests given are timed and candidates will get score details of both the verbal and quantitative reasoning sections. However, the candidate can take one practice test in an untimed condition as well, but will not receive scores for the verbal and quantitative reasoning sections. The candidate will also get the answer key and Scored sample Analytical Writing responses and reader commentary.
POWERPREP PLUS Online – It contains three GRE simulated practise tests which have never been published before. Along with offering the actual test features and scores within minutes, the Powerprep plus also provides the complete explanation of the correct answers. It includes an overall score report that summarizes candidate’s performance and has similar attributes that are offered in free Powerprep Online.
Each of the three new published timed practice tests is sold separately at a price of $39.95. Along with all the other features mentioned above, the candidate can also check the difficulty level of each question and the problem-solving strategies that are used to verify the right answer in the quantitative reasoning section.
Powerprep practice tests are also section-adaptive, similar to the actual GRE test. Which means the difficulty level of the second sections of verbal and quantitative reasoning will be determined by your performance level in the first sections of verbal and quantitative reasoning.
Along with Powerplus tools, ETS also offers various paperback and eBook for GRE preparation, such as The Official Guide to the GRE® General Test, Official GRE Verbal Reasoning Practice Questions, Official GRE® Quantitative Reasoning Practice Questions, Official GRE® Super Power Pack, etc.
